8 of the 9 journalist detained in Edirne, released 2020-03-03 10:36:29 EDİRNE – Eight of the nine journalist following up the situation near the border who wants to cross the border to Greece was released.   Following the announcement that Turkey won't be supervising the border crossings to Europe, 9 journalists were taken into custody, following up the latest developments at the border.   7 journalist including  Tolga Sezgin from Nar Photos and Sedat Suna from the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) and one translator were detained near the border.  After being held at the Elçili Gendarmerie Command throughout the day, 8 of the 9 people who were transferred to the Edirne Central District Gendarme Command in the evening were released after their intelligence investigations.   British photojournalist Bradley Secker was summoned to give his statement on the grounds that he violated the border.   Our reporters, Mesopotamia Agency İdris Sayılğan, who was detained on Saturday, February 29, was arrested on the grounds that “he was deliberately contrary to the judicial control measure” and Naci Kaya was detained on charges of “reporting in the banned area” and his detention period was extended until Wednesday, March 4.
