Migrant Solidarity Network: Protect fundamental rights, not borders 2020-02-29 14:46:55 ANKARA - Migrant Solidarity Network called on to Turkey and the EU countries and said: "Protect the fundamental rights, not borders'.   The Migrant Solidarity Network have made a written statement regarding the decision of the government officials that the refugees will not be prevented from crossing over to Europe by land and sea, after the 36 soldiers lost their lives in Idlib.   The statement highlighted that the government's use of refugees as a bargaining chip in its relations with the European Union (EU), and reacted to the fact that people are being sent to Greece with inflatable boats and precarious conditions and that these are broadcasted live on TV.   The statement said: "The people and the refugees being used as a political tool must be stopped. Those who use the refugees that were displaced as a result of the war policies as a political bargaining tool are responsible for the current political climate that normalizes racism. These policies they insist of continuing keeps pumping up the racism and putting peoples' lives at risk. Greece and Bulgaria which sends more troops to the borders are causing the refugees being subjected to more violence. This endless cycle of violence and the violations of free movement must be stopped. In order to do that, we are calling on to both Turkey and the European Union countries to protect fundamental rights, not borders."
