Harassment, insults and threats in prison!

	ADANA - During his visit to her imprisoned husband in Türkoğlu L Type Closed Prison, Lawyer R.U. stated that there was no improvement in the investigation on the subject and that the clerk replied "No queue for the file".

	Lawyer R.U., who went to prison on November 7, 2019 to visit her husband, who was detained in Maraş Türkoğlu No. 1 L Type Closed Prison, was exposed to sexual harassment, insults and threats as she refuse the naked search application dictated by the prison staff. Lawyer R.U. filed a criminal complaint in the Maraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with the complaint, on behalf of Adana Bar Association, which she was affiliated.

	 

	PRISON PUTS THE BLAME ON THE LAWYER

	 

	Prosecutor's office asked for a defence from the prison on charges of mistreatment, sexual harassment and insult, but the prison claimed that the personnel of the prison is insulted and so they put the blame on the lawyer.

	 

	Applying for an investigation on numerous institutions such as Parliementary Human Rights Monitoring Comission, Woman's and Lawyer's Rigthts Comissions, Prison Monitoring Board and the Directorate General of Prisons and Detention Houses, Lawyer R.U. stated that she is still waiting response for her attempts. Lawyer R.U. referred the defence of the prison management saying that, "I did not even feel the need to reply to this defence. Cause anybody in their right mind would know that no woman would like to undress herself completely naked in front of all the prison staff."
