Statement from HDP for refugees frozen to death: The shame of humanity 2020-02-09 15:50:40 ANKARA - HDP, announced a statement on the 13 refugees lost their lives in Van by freezing, indicating that this is a shame of humanity and that the primary responsible are the government of Iran and Turkey. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Immigrant and Refugee Commission Spokesperson Gülsüm Ağaoğlu declared a written statement regarding the death of 13 refugees in Van's Çaldıran district. In the statement, stating that the number of people who lost their lives in the migration routes has been increasing each day, it was drawn attention that the international community is not sensitive to the solution of this problem, which turned into a humanitarian crisis.    ‘THIS WILL BE REMEMBERED AS THE SHAME OF HUMANITY’   Statement included the data that that nearly 100 refugees have lost their lives either drowning, freezing or in traffic accidents in the last 6 months. It was stated, "13 refugees being frozen to death will be remember as the shame of humanity like the previous tragedies. It is impossible for human traffickers, who push desperate people toward death in mountains and on highways and on seas, to create these networks of human trafficking, without the support of state or the people who benefit from the opportunities of state. The primary responsible are the government of Iran and Turkey.”   CALL FOR SOLUTION    In the statement, which calls for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, including all relevant international organizations and the international community to take the initiative, the following call for solution has been raised; "Turkey-must be able to take the initiative in preventing the tragedy in the Iranian border. Destroying the human trafficking network, which is supported indirectly by of Iran and Turkey governments not producing the correct policies is a matter of priority  for us.  An investigation should immediately be opened to reveal the networks, who are responsible on this massacre of refugees.  As Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) we raise a call to the governments of Iran and Turkey to create solutions based on the policies focusing on human rights and human dignity.”
