From the police to the municipal councilors: You showing up in city hall is a crime 2020-01-06 13:33:15 ŞIRNAK - HDP municipal councilors working in trustee appointed Cizre and İdil municipalities were not allowed in the building where they went to attend to the monthly meeting. The police waiting at the door told the councilors that the fact that they showed up for the meeting is a crime. The People's Democratic Party municipal councilors who was to attend the monthly meeting to be held every monday. The councilors were not allowed inside the city hall and blockaded by the police.   In Cizre, councilors were blocked by police at the entrance to the city hall. Police and members of council held talks for a while. The police said they would not accept the council members to the municipality building, as there was no notification of the meeting. The councilors then demanded to know the reason why they were not invited to the meetings. After a while, the editor- in chief of the municipality Suat Özer joined the crowd and said that there were no meetings to be held that day.    When the discussion did not give any results, the council members wrote minutes and stated that they will not accept the decisions taken after 29.10.2019 and that they demand to attend the council meetings from then on.   An attorney responded to the police asking them why they were there, said: "We are not here, we are kept waiting here. We demand to go in." The police responded to the attorney and said: "You are committing a crime if you did not recieve an invitation."   The attorney reminded the police officers that not letting the council members in the building is a crime and that they were preventing the council members from fulfilling their duties.
