Journalist Kanbal's social media shares on Efrin considered in scope of 'freedom of thought' 2019-12-27 12:38:50 ŞIRNAK – The court which acquitted Journalist Ahmet Kanbal who was on trial for his shares on social media regarding his posts on Efrin operation, stated that the posts are within the scope of 'freedom of thought' in their reasoned decision. İzmir 2'nd High Criminal Court filed a claim against Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Ahmet Kanbal regarding his posts on his social media account about the military operation Turkey launched against North and East Syria on January 20, 2018 with the accusation of 'making chain propaganda of an illegal organization'.   COURT: FREEDOM OF THOUGHT   At the final hearing of the case, the court announced their reasoned decision and acquitted Kanbal.   Court stated that Kanbal did not exceed the limits of reporting in his shares because he is a journalist and did not praise, legitimize or encourage violence.
