Trustee protested in Sur: We will not kneel before you 2019-12-21 14:58:11 DİYARBAKIR - The detention of Sur Co-Mayors Filiz Buluttekin and Cemal Özdemir and the appointment of trustee was protested in Sur. HDP Provincial Co-Chair Hülya Alökmen Uyanık said: "As HDP and the people of Sur, we never have knelt down before the trustee policy and never will."  People's Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır Provincial Organization protested the detention of Sur Municipality Co- Mayors Filiz Buluttekin and Cemal Özdemir and the appointment of the trustee. HDP Provincial Co-Chairs Hülya Alökmen Uyanık and Zeyyat Ceylan, party executives and the citizens are prevented from approaching the city hall which is blockaded by the police and armoured vehicles. The press statement was made across the city hall in Tekkapı.     'PEOPLE HAVE RESPONDED TO THE TRUSTEES'   Provincial Co-Chair Ceylan who read the press statement under police blockade, stating that they have achieved great success against the trustee policies in March 31 elections, said: "The attacks against our municipalities were signaled before the elections by the government. They told us that they would not let us run the city even if we won. 6 of our elected mayors were not given their mandates right after the election. Then trustees were appointed to our three metropolitan municipalities. But our people have buried the trustee policy to the polls. People have responded to these policies with their demand for peace and democracy."   TRUSTEES WILL GO BACK TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM   Ceylan, stating that they will insist on democratic politics, said: "Under no condition we will accept the AKP- MHP fascism. This fascist mentality is losing now. That's why its getting more and more aggressive. Those who want to usurp our gains should know that they will go back to where they came from. Just like they did before.    Provincial Co-Chair Uyanık said: "AKP is trying to defeat everyone who opposes them. As HDP and the people of Sur, we never have knelt down before the trustee policy and never will.We are fighting for the peace among people. Our struggle will continue. We will not take one step back from this. "   The group started a sit in after the reading of the press statement.
