21 people remanded in custody in Diyarbakır 2019-12-20 09:44:31 DİYARBAKIR - Twenty-one people who were subjected to torture and ill-treatment while in custody were arrested while 2 people were released. Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 24 people were detained by teams affiliated to the Provincial Gendarmerie Command on 8 December.   After 5 days in custody, 40-year-old mentally retarded Kasım Eken was released from custody. The remaining 23 people were held in the Anti-Terror (TEM) Branch of the Provincial Security Directorate and 12 days after having given their statements they were transferred to Diyarbakır Courthouse.   It was learned that those who were subjected to torture while being detained were charged with "being a member of an illegal organization", "helping an illegal organization" and "possession of explosives".   21 people were remanded in custody while two were released on bail.   The names of those who suffered torture and were harassed while in custody and are now in prison are as follows: Abdulkadir Eken, Botan Eken, Hogir Eken, Fırat Çiftçi, İsmet Akar, İsmet Yıldız, Yasin Çiftçi, Abdulkadir Yağar, Ahmet Derse, Ahmet Doğan, Mahmut Bırak, Mehmet Akyüz, Zeki Güçlü, Vahdettin Aktaş, Fatih Güçlü, Hakan Yıldız, Salih Dönmez, İbrahim Çiftçi, Lokman Çiftçi, Nahit Toprak, Recep Çiftçi.   Ibrahim Bulut and D. Eken who was in the Minors Branch for 12 days were released on bail.
