
Prof. Dr. Fincancı: Let's meet the new name of the torture

	NEWS CENTER - President of THIV, Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı, mentioning the statement of Gürpınar Chief of Police M.A.K's words in his defense for torturing Koçer Sason Yapıcı in 2016 when he said he 'turned to violence under the influence of his wrathful anguish' and was acquitted with these words, said: "Torturing someone with a wrathful anguish! Let's meet the new name of torture!"

	Koçer Sason Yapıcı was sentenced to 1 year 7 months of prison after he was tortured in Van's Gürpınar District Police Station with the accusation of 'resisting to the police in order not to fulfill his duties' and 'insulting an officer', while Chief of Police was acquitted after his defense saying 'he turned to violence under the influence of his wrathful anguish'.

	Prof. Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı wrote an article today with the headline 'Wrath and Anguish' and reacted to the court legitimizing torture with the 'wrathful anguish'. Fincancı said: "I have been thinking how these words can be used together in a sentence since I've read the news. To torture someone with a wrathful anguish! Meet the new name of the torture!'
