Water shortage in Hilvan Prison causes hygiene problems 2019-09-09 13:20:08 BATMAN - In Hilvan No 2 Type E Closed Prison, hygiene problems arise due to the dailyy water cuts and families have difficulty due to arbitrarily changed visiting days.   The violations of the prisoners' rights continue increasing in Turkey and the region. Democratic Districts Party (DBP) Batman Provincial Co-chair Şükrü Tapkan who was arrested with the accusation of 'being a member to a terrorist organization', was transferred to Urfa Hilvan No 2 Type E CLosed Prison a month after his arrest. Tapkan announced the violations of rights in the prison via his visiter Abdurrezzak Katmaz.   Katmaz explained that due to the arbitrarily changing visiting days, the relatives of the prisoners coming from different cities like Van, Mardin and Hakkari are having difficulties. Katmaz stating that the communication rights of the prisoners is being violated, said their right to receieve news is also being violated. Katmaz said their radios are being confiscated and the newspaper Yeni Yaşam is not being given to the prisoners.     Katmaz also noted that hygiene problems arise caused by the daily water cuts, said the sick prisoners are either not being brought to the infirmary or being taken to the infirmary late.   Katmaz stated that he applied to Human's Rights Association in the name of Tapkan and called on to the authorities to remedy the problems of the prisoners.
