Sentence without suspension to dead journalist

	DIYARBAKIR - Batman 3rd High Criminal Court sentenced Diyarbakır Representative Kadri Kaya, DİHA's Diyarbakır Representative, to 2 years and 1 month after his death. The court ruled that there was no room for suspension of the sentence, while he forgot to make a provision for an accused.

	 

	Batman 3rd High Criminal Court sentenced the founder of the Dicle News Agency (DİHA), to prison 8 months after his death. The sentence against Kaya, whose trial continued after his death on the charge of "deliberately and willingly helping the organization", was decided not to defer the announcement of the verdict.

	 

	 

	The court sentenced Kadri Kaya with Erdoğan Altan, Mehmet Karabaş and 3 others defendants to 2 years and 1 months even though his death was moved into National Judicial Network Information System (UYAP) with the charge "deliberately and willingly helping the organization".The court decided  there was no room to defer the announcement of the verdict for Kaya who lost his life in the hospital he was treated for cancer on October 29, 2018 and for the other defendants.
