Öcalan from HDP: CPT who monitors the process is an accomplice 2019-04-09 11:15:22 URFA- HDP Urfa Deputy Ömer Öcalan who spoke about the ongoing hunger strike actions demanding the termination of the isolation, said: "CPT which has the possibility of doing an unconditional interview with Öcalan, is now at a  bystander position. Whoever is monitoring this process, is an accomplice regarding the deaths."  While the hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic PArty (HDP) Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven initiated is continuing on its 153rd day, more than 7 thousand people joined the hunger strike action spreaded to all prisons on March 1.  7 people ended their lives in protest within this time period.   Ömer Öcalan who stated that the authorities have to take some steps in order to remove the isolation on Öcalan, stated that not doing so is an invitiation to deaths. Öcalan who underlined that this isolation would not  be implemented on Öcalan without the approval of the international powers, said: "Today, if the isolation policy on Mr Öcalan is deepened, the United Nations (UN), the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) and other international institutions have a share in this. If the UN and the CPT had done their task, the isolation would not be so deep. The CPT, which has the possibility and the responsibility of doing unconditional interview with Öcalan, has become the bystander of the process rather than acting. Whoever is monitoring this process, is an accomplice in these deaths. This is why we call on the UN and the CPT to take immediate action."
