'Our children are wasting away the laws must be abided' 2019-03-26 12:35:19 DİYARBAKIR- Ayşe Koyun, mother of Agit Yıldız who is on hunger strike in Diyarbakır Type D Closed Prison, called on to the Ministry of Justice to abide by their own laws and said: "Our children are wasting away day by day. The laws should be abided."    The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy initiated demanding the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is on its 139th day. The hunger strike political prisoners started with the same demand on December 16, 2018 which spreaded to all prisons with the participation of approximately 7 thousand prisoners on March 1 is continuing. Zülküf Gezen, Ayten Beçet, Zehra Sağlam and Medya Çınar have ended their lives to protest the isolation in the last week.   21 year old Agit Yıldız who is on hunger strike in Diyarbakır Type D Closed Prison is one of the hunger strikers who joined the action on March 1. Yıldız has a sentence of 14 years to serve.   Ayşe Koyun, mother of Yıldız called on to the Ministry of Justice for the demands to be met. Mother Koyun who underlined that in order to stop the deaths in the prisons the demand should be met, called on to the Ministry of Justice to arrange a meeting with Öcalan.     Mother Koyun reminding that the hunger strikers are in critical condition, said: "Our children are wasting away day by day. Appropriate steps must be taken immediately. The state should abide by their own laws. That is the only demand. Our children are determined and they are right. They will continue their hunger strike until the aggravated isolation is permanantly terminated. We are backing our children up."   Koyun who called for awareness to the mothers, said: " Our children are wasting away. They are not doing ok and neither are we. Mothers should stand up for their children."
