' We will join the hunger strike as a family if necessary' 2019-03-26 11:57:56 SİİRT- Gülistan Teymur, mother of Leyla Teymur who is on a hunger strike in Tarsus Women's Closed Prison for 71 days, requesting the Kurdish people to unite, said: "We will join the hunger strike as a family if necessary." The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy initiated demanding the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is on its 139th day. The hunger strike political prisoners started with the same demand on December 16, 2018 which spreaded to all prisons on March 1 is continuing.   Leyla Teymur (25) who joined the hunger strike on January 15 in Tarsus Women's Closed Prison is on a hunger strike for 71 days. Teymur was sentenced to 9 and a half years of prison sentence witht he accusation of 'being a member of an illegal organization'.   Gülistan Teymur (55), mother of Leyla Teymur who is imprisoned for 3 years, stating that her daughter is on a hunger strike for 71 days, said she supports her daughter and the other prisoners. Mother Teymur who underlined that they will join the hunger strike as a family if necessarry, said: "As mothers, we want the peace and justice to come as soon as possible. Kurdish people need to unite.We have to claim the hunger strikes as a nation. We need to do something as well. They will not end the hunger strike until the isolation on the Kurdish people and their leader is terminated.This isolation needs to be terminated.They arrest anyone who say they are Kurdish. We are supporting our children and claiming their demand. we know that their only demand is a basic human right. Their action is not for themselves but for the peace and the future of the people. This proud action will continue until the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader is terminated. We know that if it does, peace will come."
