From Urfa Bar Association to Ministry of Justice: Meet the demands of the prisoners 2019-03-06 14:44:10   URFA- Urfa Bar Association drew attention to the hunger strikes spreaded to all prisons in Turkey after March 1, and the increasing violations of rights and made a statement saying: "We invite the Ministry of Justice and the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses to fulfill the requirements of national and international legislations."   The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy started with the demand of the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan which have spreaded to all prisons including thousands of prisoners is continuing.   Urfa Bar Association has issued a press release to draw attention to the rights violations experienced by the hunger strikers after they published a report on hunger striker prisoners.   A large number of lawyers attended the press statement held in front of the Bar Association of Urfa. Abdullah Öncel who spoke at the press release, said the number of hunger strikers have exceeded thousands while the  violations of rights have increased significantly and made a call to the Ministry of Justice to meet the demands of the prisoners.   Öncel also emphasized the fact that as Urfa Bar Association they claim the hunger strikes of the attorneys taht are on a hunger strike for 42 days,  including Selçuk Kozağaçlı , President of Contemporary Lawyers' Association (ÇHD) and said: "We are once again expressing that we are with our colleagues who have been arrested and kept in isolation. These practices, which are seen fit to our colleagues, disturb everyone who has a conscience. As the Bar Association of Şanlıurfa, we are calling for the elimination of unlawful arrest decisions given by some courts which are turned into weapons of the political power, and that all law organizations that take the law a priority should not be spectators to this unlawfullnes."
