A call to Ministry of Justice and to TBMM from Non governmental organizations: Accept the demands 2019-01-21 15:17:00   VAN- Many non-governmental organizations operating in Van have called on to the Ministery of Justice and the Parliamentary Human Rights Commission to end the hunger strikes.   The hunger strike initiated by DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven with the demand of terminating the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is in its 75th day today, while the hunger strike of the approximately 250 political prisoners supporting Güven is in its 37th day. Van Bar Association, Association of Lawyers for Freedom (OHP), Human Rights Association (IHD) Van Branch, Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TIHV) Van Branch, Van-Hakkari Assistance and Solidarity with Detainees and Convicts Association (TUHAY-DER), made a joint press statement demanding the demands of the hunger strikers to be met.   Sevim Çiçek, representative of TIHV read the statement on behalf of the platform in Van -Hakkari Medical Chamber Conference Hall. Çiçek who reminded that the violation of rights that occured in every period in Turkey have been increasing lately, said the violation of rights are in an advanced stage after the end of the solution process and the state of emergency.   Çiçek listed the demands after reading the statement:    *First, the Ministry of Justice and the Parliamentary Human Rights Commission to produce solutions and to comply with the national and international legislation * Allowing TTB to be involved in the health processes of the hunger strikers in prisons * Opening of prison gates to independent committees to be established by institutions,  * We urge all the public to address this problem and strive for a solution to prevent the grave consequences of the hunger strike.
