Police called the families of the journalists and threatened them 2018-11-22 16:02:28   ANKARA- Our reporter Berivan Altan and Jinnews reporter Habibe Eren’s families were called by the police and was threatened under the pretense of “conversation”. The police who said “It would be a pity for your children’ to disquet the families, said the order came from Ankara.   The police who called the families of our reporter Berivan Altan and Jinnews Ankara reporter Habibe Eren, threatened their families by saying they could get hurt. The families who were called into the police station under the pretense of conversation, recieved the answer “An order came from Ankara, we are calling everyone” when they asked the reason why they were called.   Eren, whose family got the call on November 21, said her family was told “ We know that your daughter didn’t do anything but she has bad friends. They can decieve her. She should be careful with her friends.Police later asked how many siblings she had. Eren added, “My family told them that I am a journalist and I am doing my job and they left the station.”   Altan who emphasized that her family was harassed by the police in Adana police, said: “ I have been a journalist for years. I am at the parliament or the courthouse everyday. I am gathering information and practicing journalism and I will keep on doing so. If there is a case about us, they can reach us anytime. If we are supposed to give a deposition, we will as the code of criminal procedure dictates.   Altan and Eren said they will apply to Human’s Rights Association (İHD) about the malpractice and threats of the police.
