Prison Guards confiscated the rad doll of a 3 year old 2018-11-17 12:05:45   İSTANBUL- Hacice Başkalane who is a prisoner with her child, said the guards confiscated the rag doll of her 3 year old child. Başkalane: “They say the children are the future but both my children in here and out there are mentally depressed.   Hacice Başkalane, a prisoner in Bakırköy Women’s closed prison is trying to raise Siyabend in prison conditions because her mother has cancer and her husband is in jail as well. Başkalane wrote about her and Sİyabend’s  situation  in a letter via her lawyer.   Başkalane said that his child was negatively affected by the prison conditions and that Siyabend suffered from health problems and could not be fed well. Başkalane said: “ MY child has an adanoid and she’s allergic to some fabrics. The lack of ventilation in the prison and the blanket  is making it difficult for her to breathe. The infirmary doctor said she’s needed to be referred to the hospital, but she still hasn’t. Her bones are week due to malnutrition. We can not find anything we want in theprison conditions. We can have an egg every 3 days. They give us baby biscuits and diapers once a week. I used to make rice pudding in the cattle, but since the milk they gave us usually already gone bad, I can’t do that either.   Başkalane reminding that 15 women were transferred to Bünyan Prison Campus , said: “That process had an ill effect on Siyabend. She cried ‘where did they go? Why didn’t they bring me with them’. Guards usually ignores the children and yell and insult. THe women here made a rag doll out of their old clothes. A guard confiscated it. We have 6 lego pieces and 4 tyres. We can make a train with them. There is a kindergarten in the prison but she can only go there on spesific times. The ordinary prisoners take care of the kids there. They don’t care about Siyabend because she’s Kurdish. I don’t want to send her there. She is a curious kid, she always asks questions, tries to talk to the guards. She sometimes says “goodnight” to them but they don’t answer. When the warden yells, Sİyabend warns him by saying  ‘Take it easy’.   Başkalane who leaves her child in the prison every time she has to go to court says: “I don’t want her to see the ring. She thinks I’m leaving her. She’s obsessed with that. I am a mother before anything else. They say the children are the future but both my children are mentally depreesed.”
