Trustee protest in Miks 2024-12-01 13:36:22 WAN - Protest against the trustee appointment in Miks, continued on its 3rd day.  After the appointment of a trustee to Miks (Bahçesaray) Municipality of Wan on 29 November, the watch started in front of the municipality building continued on the 3rd day. The crowd including Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Wan MP Mahmut Dindar, provincial and district co-chairs, municipality co-mayors, municipality council members, representatives of civil society organisations and many citizens marched in protest. During the march from the DEM Party Miks District Organisation building to the municipality, the slogan ‘Qayyim talan e berxwedan jiyan e (The trustee is a thief, resistance is life)’ was frequently chanted.    ‘OUR HISTORY IS THE HISTORY OF RESISTANCE’   After the march, Miks Municipality co-mayor Ayvaz Hazır made a speech and said: ‘As you know, if the AKP government, which has been in power in this district for years and has ruled the country for 22 years, thinks that they can intimidate us by appointing trustees and arresting our friends, they should take a good look at our history. Our history is the history of resistance. We will never, ever step back. We will not leave this area until we take back what is ours, what is the people's. We will continue our resistance.’   Co-Mayor Nebahat Benek stated that the vigil is on its third day, ‘We will not leave this place empty. We will fight. Those who came with appointments did not provide any service to the people. They condemned the district to loneliness. Those who came with appointments to this district, where no service has been provided so far, should not stop. The people of Miks will protect their will,’ she said.     Then Wan MP Mahmut Dindar said: ‘Their policies for 50 years have been based only on the denial and destruction of Kurds. This people will not fall for your lies. Therefore, this mentality must be abandoned immediately.’    Stating that the policy of annihilation and denial against Kurds has not ended, DEM Party Provincial Co-Chair Gülşen Kurt said: ‘What has AKP done to this people for 22 years except unemployment, massacre of women, plunder of nature and enriching cronies? This people need peace. While we extend the hand of peace every time, the Kurdish people do not accept that you ignore the Kurdish people every time. You are violating your constitution, law and democracy. This country needs social peace.’    After the statement, a sit-in protest was organised. The sit-in continues with visits.
