DEM Party applies on torture against prisoners 2024-08-16 15:21:12   ANKARA - DEM Party MP Beritan Güneş Altan has brought the torture of prisoners in Kocaeli Type F High Security Prison No. 2 to the Human Rights Commission and demanded that the commission urgently convene and visit the prison.    Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Mêrdîn MP Beritan Güneş Altan applied to the Parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission (İHİK) about the torture of prisoners in Kocaeli Type F High Security Prison No. 2. In the application, the chief prison guard and other prison guards raided the ward where Mehmet Alçınkaya, Mustafa Doğan and Adem Dinç were held and scattered their belongings.    NO BATTERING REPORT GIVEN   The application stated that the prisoners were taken to an empty room after the raid, and that prisoner Dinç was taken from the room and then tortured. “Due to these blows, the area around Adem Dinç's right eye was swollen and blood collected inside his eye. After this torture process, Dinç was taken to a different room from the room he was staying in and his friends he was staying with. After this beating, Adem Dinç went to the Prison Infirmary to get a medical report and requested a report on the beating, but the report was not delivered to him” stated.    The application requested an urgent meeting of IHIK under the heading of torture and ill-treatment and demanded that the prisoners who were tortured and the prison administration be visited.    Güneş also submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Parliament for the Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç to answer. In the parliamentary question, she asked whether an investigation was launched against the guards who tortured prisoners and those responsible for not reporting the torture.
