'Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan' protest in 104 prisons

	ANKARA - Stating that there is a hunger strike in 104 prisons demanding "freedom for Abdullah Öcalan", İHD Ankara Branch Co-Chair Ömer Faruk Yazıcı said: "We have to lend a voice to the voices of the prisoners."

	 

	A hunger strike was launched in Turkey and Kurdistan prisons on November 27, demanding "freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a solution to the Kurdish issue." The rotating hunger strike action will continue until February 15. Human Rights Association (IHD) Ankara Branch Co-chair Ömer Faruk Yazıcı, shared the information that prisoners started hunger strikes in 21 prisons in the Interior Anatolia Region, 104 in total.

	 

	PETITION TO AUTHORIZED INSTITUTIONS

	 

	Stating that the demands of the prisoners are clear, Yazıcı said: "The prisoners say that the isolation imposed on Mr. Öcalan has spread to society; therefore, Mr. Öcalan's freedom is also the solution to the Kurdish issue; therefore, this action is aimed at the isolation of Mr. Öcalan and the solution of the Kurdish issue in addition to the hunger strike, the prisoners also sent petitions and letters to authorized national and international institutions."

	 

	Stating that everyone should support the actions started in prisons, Yazıcı said: "We would continue our actions until the day our demands are met. We have to give voice to the voices of the prisoners. Everyone has to take responsibility in this regard. The terrible isolation of the prisoners has come into effect since the epidemic process. Lack of communication is imposed on the prisoners. We are deprived of human contact. Isolation is applied. Despite such limited opportunities, the prisoners are again giving a voice to the society. we have to give voice to this call."

	Stating that prisoners in 21 prisons in the Central Anatolia Region started a rotating hunger strike, Yazıcı listed the prisons where strikes were initiated as follows:
