Şanar Yurdatapan: Let us hear what Abdullah Öcalan says 2023-11-06 14:22:41   ISTANBUL - Emphasizing that the "Call to Peace" declaration should be embraced, Şanar Yurdatapan said: "If the isolation is lifted, everyone will hear what Abdullah Öcalan means. Let us hear what Abdullah Öcalan said. What is the government afraid of?   78 people, including politicians, academics, intellectuals, writers and journalists, came together in Istanbul on October 28 for a democratic and peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue and announced to the public the declaration titled "Call for Peace", of which they were signatories. In the declaration, a call was made for the end of the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and for a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue.   One of the names that signed the declaration was musician and human rights defender Şanar Yurdatapan. Yurdatapan spoke to the Mezopotamya Agency (MA) about the content and purpose of the declaration.   'IT IS NOT A KURDISH ISSUE, IT IS A TURKISH ISSUE'   Drawing attention that the Kurdish issue was consciously created by the state, Yurdatapan said: "It would be more accurate to define the issue as the 'Turkish issue' because centuries before the Turks came to Manzikert, Kurds were already living there. What's the issue with this? This has always been an issue in Turkey. It is a controversial issue that was consciously created by the state, and therefore, contrary to the saying 'Peace at home, peace in the world', peace has never been achieved in the country."   'ISOLATION IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY'   Referring to the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, which is another important agenda item in the text, Yurdatapan said: "The 'Call to Peace' declaration should be embraced. The way to a democratic solution and permanent peace in the Kurdish issue is through the lifting of the isolation. What is the purpose of isolation? No one should hear what Öcalan means. Let us not hear or understand. If the isolation is lifted, the state's lies will disappear. Everyone will clearly see and hear what Öcalan means. Let us hear what Abdullah Öcalan says. What is the government afraid of? For the state to do such a thing is already a crime against humanity. For this reason, one of the important parts of the declaration was of course ending the isolation.”     MA / İbrahim Irmak
