Names of villages and squares in Afrin were changed to Turkish

	NEWS CENTER - In Afrin, which is under the control of Turkey and affiliated paramilitary groups, the names of villages and squares from Kurdish were changed to Turkish and Ottoman.

	 

	Turkey's policies to change the demographic structure in the city of Afrin in Northern and Eastern Syria, which it launched an attack with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups on January 20, 2018 and dominated on March 18, continues. The Kurdish names of the villages and squares of the city, where many inhumane practices such as harassment, rape, extortion, torture, kidnapping for ransom and murder took place, were changed.

	 

	According to ANHA, the villages and squares whose names were changed are as follows:

	 

	*In Bilbilê district, Kûtana village-Selçuk Obası, Qestel Mixdad village-Zafer Obası, Xelîloko-Halilak Obası, and Bûkê was changed to Bak Ubası.

	 

	*In Mabeta district, Maimala village-Mamal Uşağı, Şiketka village-Maghar Jug, Kurzilê Çê village-Cafer Obası.

	 

	*Çaqmaqê Mezin village in Reco district was changed to Büyük Çakmak.

	 

	*Freedom Square-Atatürk Square, Watanî Junction-Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Junction, Newroz Junction-Salah El Dîn Junction, Kawa Hesinkar Junction was changed to Olive Branch Junction.

	 

	*In addition, Turkey opened 3 academies named Yunus Emre Academy for the purpose of language and cultural assimilation in the regions where it dominated Northern and Eastern Syria.
