Kavala, who been in prison for 6 years: I have not lost hope 2023-11-01 14:38:18 NEWS CENTER – Businessperson Osman Kavala, who has been imprisoned for 6 years, said in his message: "I have not lost hope that the law will prevail in my country."   Businessman Osman Kavala, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in the case he was tried regarding the Gezi Park protests in 2013, has been imprisoned in prison for the 6th year. Kavala published a written statement regarding his 6th year in prison.   In the message shared from the X account named "Freedom for Kavala", the following was noted:   "I have been held in prison for 6 years without any evidence that I had committed a crime. While I am waiting for this to end, my release conditions became worse after the Supreme Court decision confirmed the unlawfulness. I was honored to be deemed worthy of the award given by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in the name of Vaclav Havel, who also have been in prison; however, Hamas' attack on civilians and the disaster caused by Israeli bombardment in Gaza did not give me the opportunity to rejoice. I believe that all international organizations will show more sensitivity against the injustices that feed the atmosphere of terrorism and violence that cause great suffering in Palestine and will be strong to ensure peace in accordance with international law norms. I hope they will take the initiative.   As Havel said, 'the most important thing is not to lose hope.' I have not lost hope that law will prevail in my country.   Osman Kavala, 1 November 2023”
