Voting begins in historic election 2023-05-14 08:33:33   NEWS CENTER - Voting for the presidential and general elections started at 08:00. Vote counting will begin at the ballot boxes that will close at 17:00.    Voting for the Presidential and 28th Term Parliamentary Elections started at 08:00. While 60 million 697 thousand 843 voters are expected to cast their votes in more than 191 thousand ballot boxes to be established, voting procedures will end at 17.00 across Turkey.   Voters will be able to vote with one of the official documents with an identification number, which reveals their identity without hesitation.    CUSTOMS GATES     Voting for 3 million 416 thousand 98 voters registered in the foreign electoral roll began on April 27 and ended on May 9 at the ballot boxes set up in foreign representations in 73 countries and 156 places. Voting procedures at the customs gates of those who could not vote within the specified time in their country of residence will end at 17.00 today.   INTERNATIONAL VOTES WILL BE COUNTED   The ballot papers used abroad were brought to Turkey by planes and diplomatic couriers. The votes stored in the Overseas District Election Board in Ankara ATO Congresium will be counted simultaneously with the other votes after the completion of the voting process across the country.   CANDIDATES, PARTIES AND ALLIANCES   Nation Alliance candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, People's Alliance candidate Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ata Alliance candidate Sinan Ogan will compete for the presidency. However, the name of Muharrem İnce, who announced his withdrawal from his candidacy on May 11, is on the ballot since the printing and distribution of the ballots has been completed.   For the General Election to be held to determine the 28th Term Deputies, 24 political parties and 151 independent parliamentary candidates across Turkey will compete. Some political parties entered the elections with 5 different alliances under the name of "Labor and Freedom", "Nation", "Ata", "Republic" and "Socialist Power Union" alliances.
