Number of detentions increased to 32 in Istanbul-based investigation 2023-05-02 16:17:50   ISTANBUL - The number of people detained in house raids in 6 Istanbul-based cities has increased to 32.   Simultaneous house raids were carried out in 15 districts and 6 cities, including Başakşehir, Esenyurt, Arnavutköy and Küçükçekmece within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and issued an arrest warrant for 39 people. The number of those detained in the raids rose to 32. At least 32 people, including People's Democratic Congress (HDK), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Youth Council members and administrators, were detained on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization".   The detained 32 people, including Devin Doğa Ayaz, Hülya İlyas, Serkan Şengül, Eylem Taşdemir, Mustafa Şişman, Serhat Tokuş, Arafat Emekçileri, Tufan Emekçileri, Erkan Özmen, Cevdet Biçer, Yunus Aslan, Berfin Koçak, Hividar Özdemir, Ömer Gülsül, Mervan Beyret, Adem Özgen and Onur İlbars, were taken to the Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate.   It was learned that a 24-hour restriction was imposed on the detainees to meet with their lawyers as part of the investigation, and there was a confidentiality decision regarding the investigation file.
