Botan cities are one of the regions where the work continues intensively. The goal of the Green Left Party in Şırnak is to make it 4-0. Among the candidates are Asrın Law Office lawyers Newroz Uysal, journalist Ayşegül Doğan, Zeki İrmez and Bedirhan Osal. Newroz Uysal Aslan, who is among the candidates, is also the lawyer of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.   Newroz Uysal   UYSAL WAS IMPRESSED BY HER MOTHER   Uysal was born in 1992 in Giludur (Kemerli) village of Şırnak. After the security policies carried out in the 1980s and 1990s, thousands of villages were evacuated. One of the evacuated villages was the village of Giludur. At a young age, Uysal settled with her family, first in Şırnak and then in Cizîr (Cizre). Growing up in a patriotic family, Uysal witnessed torture, arrest and injustice at a young age. Uysal was impressed by her mother's struggle, known as Yadê Gulê (Gulê Uysal) in the city, and her patriotic identity and stance.   THE STRUGGLE AT A LITTLE AGE   When she was a child, she took the stage with her mother at rallies, Newroz, commemorations and events held in the city and read the poems she wrote. Everyone now recognized her as the "Newroz of Yade Gule". Yade Gule's greatest wish was to see Abdullah Öcalan. When Abdullah Öcalan was brought to Turkey with an international conspiracy in 1999, she asked her 7-year-old daughter, Newroz, to study law and become Abdullah Öcalan's attorney. This wish became her will. Focusing on one thing with her mother's request, Uysal took part in both youth work and theater, choir and folklore studies at the Mem û Zin Culture and Art Center.   THE CANDIDATE WAS THE ATTORNEY OF THE KILLED   Uysal, who won the Istanbul University Faculty of Law to fulfill her mother's wish, graduated in 2014. Uysal, who made an intense effort to be the lawyer of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, applied to Asrın Law Office and later became a member of the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD). Uysal, on the other hand, undertook her first attorney experience in revealing the rights violations in the curfews announced in Şırnak and its districts in 2015-2016, and as the attorney of those murdered by law enforcement.   Stating that her mother's greatest longing is "freedom of Kurdistan and Öcalan", Uysal said that she will continue her struggle in the Parliament to meet the demands of her mother and thousands of Kurds.   Stating that her mother had a great share in taking part in today's struggle and that she would continue her struggle in the Parliament to meet the demands of her mother and thousands of Kurds, Uysal said: "My mother is known as Yadê Gule in the region as a party worker. From my childhood until the years when my mother passed away, I grew up with her stories, her experiences, her pain, her laments and dengbej kilams. I usually recited poetry at the party's rallies, events and commemorations of people who went unsolved. That's why everyone was calling me 'Yadê Gule's Newroz'. My father, grandfather and uncle died in this struggle on different dates. My mother's greatest wish was to see the freedom of Mr. Öcalan. She used to say that if she couldn't see the freedom of Öcalan, my eyes would go open. That's why he wanted me to be an attorney."   'STRUGGLE AGAINST THE SYSTEM IGNORING THE KURDISH'   Stating that they will fight to change the existing legal mechanism and to pave the way for fair trials, Uysal said: “There is a legal system in Turkey that ignores the Kurds in terms of status and identity. We tried to fight it. There is a discriminatory understanding in the law in Turkey. Constitutional debates are one of the biggest crises in Turkey. While the practices of the constitutional arrangement in favor of the people are not fulfilled, the articles in the monist system that are against the people are persistently and fascistly imposed on us. A lot of corpus awaits us, from the regulations of the law, to the regulations of the delaying of release, to the changing execution practices. In order for all of these to change, a truly equal and free politics, in which the people can have a say, must be created. We will have to transform this situation, which exists with a strong representation in the Parliament, into a sustainable policy.”   MA / Zeynep Durgut
