A new application from HDP: Leave the defense until after the election 2023-03-15 15:15:55   ANKARA - HDP has made a new application to the Constitutional Court, demanding that the verbal self-defense in the closure case be left until after the election.   The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has made a new application to the Constitutional Court (AYM), where the closure case filed by the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues. HDP applied to the Constitutional Court on January 16, demanding that the case be discussed and the final decision to be left until after the election. Following the rejection of this application, HDP applied for a 3-month postponement of the hearing of the case and the date of the verbal self-defense following the Maraş-centered earthquakes. Evaluating the application, the Constitutional Court postponed the verbal self-defense by one month and set a date for April 11.   After the election calendar was announced, HDP made a second application to the Constitutional Court, demanding that the closure case be postponed until after the election.   In the justification of the application, HDP Law and Human Rights Commission pointed to the calendar of the elections to be held on May 14 and stated that verbal self-defense was not possible during the election campaign.   AFTER THE ELECTION   In the application, in which the precedent decisions of the Constitutional Court regarding the closure of political parties were reminded, it was noted that a possible decision to be made before the election would hinder the will of the voters. In the application, it was requested that the date of the verbal self-defense, which was decided on April 11, be postponed until after the election.   MA / Özgür Paksoy
