Soup kitchen continues to give food to Earthquake victims 2023-02-25 13:02:12   MARAŞ - Silopiya Municipality employees, who came to Pazarcık district on the 2nd day of the earthquake and distributed food to the earthquake victims, noted that they will continue to distribute food as long as needed.   The solidarity initiated by non-governmental organizations, political parties and volunteer citizens since the first day of the Maraş-centered earthquake continues on the 20th day of the earthquake, despite all the obstacles of the government. The Silopi Municipality of Şırnak, which came to the earthquake's epicenter Pazarcık district on the second day with a aid truck and showed solidarity with the earthquake victims, opened a large soup kitchen tent after determining that the most basic need was hot food. The municipality continues to serve three meals a day for 18 consecutive days, and sometimes snacks for those who cannot keep up with the meals.   The municipal employees, who prepare meals for at least a thousand people at each meal, say that they will continue to serve the people in the earthquake area and offer hot meals until the wounds are healed.   THANKS TO THE MUNICIPALITY   There is a feverish work from morning to night in the soup kitchen tent, where not only the citizens staying in Cengiz Topel and Fatih neighborhoods, where the Silopiya Municipality Soup House is located, but also earthquake victims from other neighborhoods come and have a hot meal. The earthquake survivors who saw this said, “The food is very delicious; however, the reason why we came here is not the taste of the food. We feel at home here. Sometimes when we talk among ourselves, we say that even if poison is distributed there, we will go and eat it. Thank God, they have been here since the second day of the earthquake. Fortunately, they help everyone. There is no discrimination. No matter who comes, everyone who comes here takes their food and leaves."   MA / Rukiye Adıgüzel
