Journalist Qasim: Soldiers had no choice but to withdraw 2023-02-03 15:42:56   NEWS CENTER - Stating that the TAF had to withdraw from the attacks that continued for 10 months in Zap, despite all its technical means, Journalist Seyda Qasim said: "They wanted to achieve great success, but they could not."   The attacks launched by Turkey in the Zap, Metina and Avaşîn regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region on April 17, 2022, in partnership with the KDP, have entered their 10th month. More than 2,500 chemical weapons and banned bombs have been used by Turkey in the region. In the statement made on February 1, it was stated that banned bombs and chemical weapons were used 252 times in January. Journalist Seyda Qasim, who closely follows the developments in the Federated Kurdistan Region, evaluated the attacks that have been going on for 10 months and the withdrawal of the TAF from some parts of Zap.   THERE IS NO AREA THAT IS NOT BOMBED   Expressing that Turkey could not get the desired result in 10 months, Qasim said: “Despite the use of so much ammunition and chemical weapons, Turkey could not get results. The result was like Turkey's withdrawal from the Zap in the winter of 2008. The most difficult stage of the attack was carried out at the border gates of Avaşîn, Zap and Metina. There is hardly a single area that has not been bombed. In these attacks, forbidden weapons such as tactical nuclear bombs and thermobaric bombs were used in the resistance tunnels. But no results were obtained. The Turkish army was so stuck that they had to withdraw from some parts of the Zap.``   CHEMICAL INVESTIGATION IS NOT ALLOWED   Referring to the commission established to investigate the use of chemical weapons, Qasim said: "The current interests hinder the investigation. The commission has been established, but so far no progress has been made. There has been no good research and no legal complaint has been made that Turkey's Iraqi territory has been violated. Despite ten commissions and meetings in the Iraqi Parliament to prevent Turkish attacks, no results have been achieved. The current government of Mustafa Al-Kazimi is known for its cooperation with Turkey. Due to the difficult conditions in the region and the obstructions of the KDP, no independent, international and local delegations from Iraq or the region could go to the regions where war crimes were committed. If independent delegations want to come to these regions, they will help the guerrillas in every way. But the KDP has blocked this way as well. The commission has not done any significant work on this issue until now. If there is, it has not been announced yet. Defense Minister Hulusi Akar's statements are part of his special war policies; otherwise, how will he explain the situation there? So many soldiers were killed there, they suffered so many defeats that they showed this defeat as a victory. If the Turkish army had not withdrawn from the Zap, all its soldiers there would have died. Weather conditions made it easier for the guerrillas to take action against the soldiers. The guerrillas nullified all the techniques with the new model; therefore, the Turkish soldiers had to withdraw. There is a war, but there is also a resistance against this war.”
