Bones found in Zilan are on the Parliament's agenda 2023-01-04 15:25:49 VAN - A motion was submitted to initiate an investigation into human bones found in the Zilan Valley in Van.   Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Van MP Muazzez Orhan put in the human bones found on December 12, 2022 in the Erciş district, in Geliyê Zîlan (Zilan Valley), where thousands of Kurds were massacred en masse July 13, 1930 on the agenda of the Parliament. In the motion, which was submitted with the request of Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ to respond, it was emphasized that the relevant prosecutor's office should decide to confiscate the human bones in the vicinity "without delay" and initiate an investigation.   The motion included the following questions:   "*Is there an investigation initiated by your ministry about the remains of mass graves unearthed after the recession of Koçköprü HEPP Dam in Erciş? Has a public statement been made about this situation that has been publicized for a month?   * Have there been any preservation, determination and report studies regarding the bones and other evidences found in the area in question?   *What are the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the exposed bones? How many people are estimated to belong to?   *Is there an investigation, research or investigation by your ministry about the allegations that there are similar mass graves in the Zilan region?   * What work will you initiate to reveal the truth in order to confront Zilan and similar massacres in Turkish history?   *According to the data in the official archives, how many Kurds were killed in the Zilan massacre? Is there a study on the claims that the murdered people were buried in mass graves through official archives? Where are the mass graves located? Are these areas under protection?
