The lawyer of Fincancı: The court is under pressure

	İSTANBUL- Stating that the court was under pressure, the lawyer of TTB President Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Şevin Kaya said: "Because the limit of 3 lawyers has been brought and the right of defense has been violated."

	 

	Head of the Central Council of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), who was targeted by the government after Turkey's assessment of the use of chemical weapons in the attacks on Zap, Avaşîn and Metina regions and was arrested on charges of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization". Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı was not released at the second hearing of the case against her on October 29. The trial of Fincancı will continue on January 11 at the Istanbul 24th High Criminal Court. Şevin Kaya, one of Fincancı's lawyers, spoke about the continuation of her client's detention.

	 

	THE COURT IS UNDER PRESSURE

	 

	Reminding that she is targeted as a "traitor" and "terrorist" by the government after Fincancı's evaluations, Kaya said: "The Ministry of Defense announced that it carried out a chemical investigation after the evaluations made as the reason for her arrest. In the face of these completely rejected statements, the statements of the MSB actually revealed what Fincancı wanted to say. Fincancı is a Forensic Medicine Specialist and that her evaluations should be handled within this scope. My client explained in detail what the forensic specialist can do, what words and evaluations she is authorized to make at the first hearing held on December 23. Actually, the court and the prosecutor's office took a lesson from Şebnem Korur Fincancı at this point. Unfortunately, the court has not released Şebnem teacher for 2 hearings. It is very clear that the court is under pressure because the court brought the limit of 3 lawyers and thus violated the right of defense." 

	 

	'JUDICIARY COVERING UP THE CASE FILE'

	 

	Pointing out that the case was held in a small hall despite the widespread adoption of it, Kaya said: "The file is being tried to be hidden from the public. It is desired that the file be closed by imposing a sentence as soon as possible. This situation prevented the court from making a fair trial. The opinion of prosecutor was not 'acceptable'. The opinion is the manifestation of a oppression that is already in the middle. Ultimately, many of Şebnem's rights have been violated within the scope of this file, which is under the pressure of the political power. We objected to this, even in 2 hearings. We went to the judge's rejection because of her attitude towards Şebnem and the limit of 3 lawyers. The court turned down our request for the refusal of the judge. We will appeal against this decision." 

	 

	Kaya also called for participation in Fincancı's third hearing, which will be held on January 11.
