Youth: Abdullah Öcalan must be free 2022-12-21 10:30:46   İZMİR - Reacting to the isolation imposed upon PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, the youth said: "Not only the communication problem, but also physical freedom should be ensured."   There has been no news for nearly 21 months from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, who are being held in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison. Lawyer and family visits applications are blocked on the grounds of "disciplinary penalties". While the applications of politicians and legal organizations to the Ministry of Justice continue, Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), MED Law and Solidarity Associations for Families of Prisoners and Convicts Federation ( Some protest actions are organized under the leadership of MED TUHAD-FED), Lawyers' Association for Freedom (ÖHD), Peace Mothers' Council and youth. Young members of the Democratic Student Council (DÖM) and HDP Youth Council condemned the isolation.   'ISOLATION IS DEEPING THE CRISIS'   Stating that the state had introduced 'dirty policies' against the Kurds, DÖM member Şehmus Buran said: "These policies are not independent of the isolation on Abdullah Öcalan. The special war policies have also been deepened with the isolation. The main purpose of the isolation is to drag the peoples of the Middle East into a lack of struggle and freedom through the Kurdish people. The isolation causes many problems such as war and economy. Isolation deepens the economic crisis. It creates incompatibility and future anxiety among the youth. The isolation affects the society as a whole. Imrali is the key to the solution of the crisis experienced by the peoples of Turkey and the Middle East. If Isolation is ended, the people of the Middle East will breathe a sigh of relief.”   INTERNATIONAL MOVE   Stating that the isolation can be lifted by the youth, Buran reminded them that they sent a letter to the CPT on December 8. Buran said: "We started a move on December 8 to break the isolation. We will spread this move on campuses, on the streets, everywhere. We will continue to ask the EU, the UN, the ECtHR and many organizations about the isolation."   THE ROLE OF STATES IN ISOLATION   Stating that global powers and states also play a role in maintaining the isolation, HDP Youth Council member Berfin Çiçek said: "The isolation policy on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, who is the pioneer and executive of Democratic Modernity, is not carried out by only one state because Mr. Öcalan offers a life against all the fascist practices of capitalist states. The system imposes isolation on Mr. Öcalan for its own interests. Öcalan's ideas have spread all over the world, especially women, with the slogan 'jin, jiyan, azadi'. They are afraid of this. The slogan 'jin, jiyan, azadi' will continue to spread in many parts of the world."
