Ill prisoners cannot access their medicines in prisons 2022-12-13 10:47:45   URFA - Bar Association Human Rights Center, which met with ill prisoners in Urfa prisons, said that ill prisoners could not reach their medicines and were subjected to their cavity of mouth to be searched.   According to the data of the Human Rights Association (İHD) Urfa Branch, there are 34 patients, 5 of whom are seriously ill, including Emin Güler, who is 94 percent disabled, in Urfa 1 and 2 Type T and Siverek Type T Closed Prison. Lawyers from İHD, Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) and Kazım Ekinci Human Rights Center of Urfa Bar Association met with ill prisoners within the scope of Human Rights Week. The lawyers, who have met with 14 ill prisoners so far, will report the violations of rights and the situation of the ill prisoners when they complete the interviews. Ahmet Taş, Secretary General of Kazım Ekinci Human Rights Center of Urfa Bar Association, talked about what the ill prisoners get through they have identified in their meetings so far.   THE PROBLEMS IN PRISONS   Stating that the prisoners have problems such as the cavity of their mouth to be searched, not access to physicians, not applying the necessary care and treatment of the doctors in prison, not access to the hospital and not being able to eat healthy,  Taş said: "The right to a healthy diet is one of the most basic rights for a ill prisoner. Ill prisoners are not allowed to have video conversations with their families in order to put psychological pressure on them. The prisoners expressed this as a method of breaking their will."   'THE STATE MUST FULFILL ITS OBLIGATIONS'   Stating that they will keep the prisons under constant surveillance from now on, Taş said: "Since the right to access to a hospital, the right to health are among the positive obligations of the state. NGOs and institutions should take care of the prison because the state does not fulfill its positive obligation. As the Bar Association Human Rights Center, we will monitor the prison with reports this year. The state will take the necessary measures within the scope of the right to health and the right to life as soon as possible and fulfill its obligations in accordance with the social state principle.   MA / Müjdat Can
