The condition of Mutlu, a schizophrenic patient, worsen: Mutlu should be released 2022-11-12 12:11:44   WAN - The condition of 25-year prisoner Mehmet Mutlu, who has schizophrenia, is getting worse. His mother, Emiş Mutlu, who has not been able to see her son for 9 years, said: "I can not see my son for 9 years. It is not possible for him to live there, He should be released."   The condition of 25-year prisoner Mehmet Mutlu, who has schizophrenia and is being held in Patnos Type L Prison, is getting worse. Mutlu spoke about what he is geting through in a letter he wrote to the Wan Branch of the Human Rights Association (İHD) through her companion.   Noting that he is a severe schizophrenic patient and receiving medication, Mutlu said: “In addition to my serious health problems caused by being in prison for many years, I have schizophrenia and heart disease. I have been fighting this disease in prison for 20 years, however; I am trying to meet my daily needs with heavy-dose medicines and injections, and it cannot be said that I do this very well. It is out of the question for me to do even these without a companion. My treatment is done with medicines only in prison. I have been using these medicines non-stop for 20 years. During this period, I was admitted to Elazig Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital for 1 year and 6 months. I spent months in Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, Bakırköy Hospital, but the sign of recovery depends on the use of medicines. After the medicines are finished, the time to take the medicines again sometimes takes weeks, and when I do not take the medicines, I cannot meet any of my routine needs. I can't sleep, I can't clean, I can't eat and I can't talk."   PRISON CONDITIONS DEEPEN THE DISEASE   Mutlu said: “The problem is solved with medication, but prisons are not suitable for such conditions. Due to the circumstances, I am disconnected from the real world, which causes problems with my ward friends. Prison conditions further deepen the situation of schizophrenic patients. I was examined many times both by institutional committees affiliated with the Ministry of Justice and by independent institution committees. Lastly, I was taken to the ATK established within the Ministry of Justice, but the results were still not given to me. Medicine alone is not a solution and a form of treatment. Even my letters are written by my companion Yakup Turgut. I can't see my family, they can't come to my open and closed views.”   'MY SON SHOULD BE RELEASED'   Stating that her son is constantly exiled to distant prisons and has not been to see him for 9 years, Emiş Mutlu who is mother of Mehmet said: “I have various diseases, so I cannot go to see my son. My son has various diseases. All ill prisoners and my son must be released. It is impossible to live there. The last time we spoke on the phone was on November 6, he said that his condition is bad. My son has been held  for 25 years. He has to be released because he has serious illnesses.”
