In this week's demonstration held in front of the association building, attention was drawn to the health status of seriously ill prisoner Dicle Bozan, who is imprisoned in Kayseri Bünyan Women's Closed Prison.   In addition to the relatives of the prisoners, many human rights defenders participated in the demonstration, in which the banner "The ill prisoner should be released" and banners with photographs of seriously ill prisoners were carried. The slogans of "Dicle Bozan should be released" were shouted.   This week's statement was read by Ferit Barut, a member of the IHD Istanbul Branch Board of Directors. Pointing out that there has been an increase in the cases of violations of rights, torture, ill-treatment and suicide in prisons in recent times, Barut reminded that a judicial prisoner named Emel Hacıoğlu died in a suspicious way in Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison on September 6.   SHE HAS AN EPILEPSY ATTACKS   Describing the experiences of seriously ill prisoner Dicle Bozan, who was imprisoned in Kayseri Bünyan Women's Closed Prison, Barut said: "Bozan was arrested in 2017 after she was caught with serious injuries and one leg was amputated below the knee in the hospital, a colostomy was performed and the pieces of shrapnel in the other leg were not removed. Bozan suffers from migraine and epilepsy. Bozan often faints due to epilepsy attacks. While she should not be kept alone due to frequent epilepsy crises, Bozan was transferred to İzmir Menemen Type R Prison in 2018 due to the lack of treatment opportunities in Elazığ.   HER SURGERY HAS BEEN DELAYED FOR 9 MONTHS   Stating that Bozan was kept in a solitary cell in Menemen Type R Prison, Barut said: “Necessary medical care could not be provided either. Since She was in Menemen Type R Prison, her surgery was delayed for 9 months. Dicle Bozan, who was not operated and treated in Menemen Type R Prison, together with Ergin Aktaş and Abdullah Turan, who were brought to the same prison for treatment; They had to go on a hunger strike demanding treatment and medical care. Since the prosthesis in Dicle's leg does not bend at the knee and is a heavy and old-style prosthesis, it affects the toilet problem negatively walking, moving and social relations. Due to the necessity of using the prosthesis for 5 years, Dicle does not have to change it immediately. Only after 5 years she will be able to request a new prosthesis.”
