ATK said for the third time that Tuğluk could 'be held in prison' 2022-07-14 16:32:47   ANKARA - Attorneys of Aysel Tuğluk who stated that the ATK gave the third report that says Tuğluk can be held in prison, underlined that they objected to the decision.   Tuğluk's attorneys made a written statement about imprisoned politician Aysel Tuğluk, the former Co-Chair of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) and former MP. Reminding that Tuğluk has been suffering from dementia in the prison where she has been detained for a long time, the statement said: "After the first diagnosis and treatment started by Seka State Hospital in February 2021, her examinations continued to take place at Kocaeli State Hospital and ATK Special Departments at intervals."   'DOCUMENTS SHOW THAT SHE CANNOT LIVE ALONE'   In the statement, which underlined it was stated that Tuğluk's health status was closely observed by her friends, attorneys and family members, as well as prison staff and administrators, the following was noted, "We would like to point out that due to the seriousness of her dementia and the critical stage of her health, the prison observation board must be making periodic examinations since March 2022. Apart from this, the prescription contents of the prison doctor or the affiliated ASM physician and other documents showing that she cannot continue her life in prison without the help of someone else due to the stage of the disease."   REPORT FROM ATK DATED JUNE 22   In the statement, it was noted that an application, was made to the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with the medical documents they obtained in March, April and May which includes the testimonies of the detainees, the observations of the attorneys, the prison observation decisions and the scientific opinion of the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TİHV), it was stated in the application that the execution of the sentence should be postponed. In the statement, it was stated that Tuğluk was taken to the 3rd Specialization Board of the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) for one day and a new report was prepared on June 22. It was noted that the ATK gave a report opposite to the one  given by the health committee  and scientific expert opinions that Tugluk could not maintain her life alone in prison.
