'For freedom, there must be resistance against isolation' 2022-05-30 16:02:00   DİYARBAKIR - Stating that the root of the injustice is the isolation imposed on Öcalan, MED-TUHAD-FED Co-Chair Zeki Baran said: "If the Middle East seeks liberation, they must show resistance to end the isolation on Öcalan."   PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been under isolation since the day he was brought to Turkey on February 15, 1999. The isolation imposed on Öcalan has continued uninterruptedly, although it has been lifted to an extent from time to time since this date. Although the Turkish government did not officially accept the isolation on international platforms, after Öcalan was brought to Turkey, third parties' requests for meeting were constantly rejected, and family and attorney visits were blocked for various reasons. Turkey continued the isolation against the Imrali resistance, citing different reasons.   Med Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations with the Families of prisoners and Convicts (MED-TUHAD-FED) Co-chair Zeki Baran evaluated the isolation imposed on Öcalan and the isolation which has spread to all prisons and its purpose.   'ISOLATION IS THE CAUSE OF THE CRISIS'   Defining the isolation imposed on Öcalan as an "inhumane practice", Baran said: "The physical isolation on Öcalan affects the freedom of the society. The economic, political and administrative crisis of Turkey is closely related to the isolation imposed on Öcalan. When we look at Turkey, all of the dirty policies emerged during the AKP period. Genocide, persecution and oppression increased in this period. Femicides and the policies to destroy the Kurdish people increased in this period. This invading and genocidal system has been going on for nearly 20 years. Justice Watches were launched all over Turkey. The reason for all this injustice and crisis in the country is the isolation on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan.”   REFLECTION OF THE ISOLATION ON ALL THE PRISONs   Referring to the peace process between the PKK and Turkey, Baran said: "The Dolmabahçe Agreement was first accepted and then rejected by President Erdoğan. Mr. Öcalan, as the isolation on him deepened, its effect first reflected on all of the prisons. Thousands of Kurdish revolutionaries in politics are in prison. Therefore, the effect of the isolation is reflected first on the political prisoners and then on the whole society.”   ISOLATION IS NOT PHYSICAL BUT IDEOLOGICAL   Stating that the isolation has spread to the entire society, Baran said: "The isolation will only be nullified by struggle. The Kurdish people should move forward with the paradigm and philosophy of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. Especially if the Kurds, the Turks, the four parts of Kurdistan and the Middle East seek liberation, if they want to see bright days, they must resist to end the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The aim of this system in Turkey is not only to hold Abdullah Öcalan in physical isolation, but also to isolate Öcalan's thoughts and ideas."   A CALL FOR THE SOCIAL DYNAMICS   Baran said that Kurds and their friends all over the world are in a struggle, but more steps must be taken to break the isolation. Calling on all segments to break the isolation, Baran said: "The isolation imposed on Mr. Öcalan needs to be broken. Everyone can do something. Our biggest problem is not to do our best."
