Number of women arrested increases to 11 2022-03-20 11:25:28   DİYARBAKIR - The number of those arrested increased to 11 with the decision to arrest 4 of the women detained in the Diyarbakır-based operation.   Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor's Office, 25 women, including politicians and representatives of non-governmental organizations, were detained in the police operations carried out in Diyarbakır on March 16-17. While 7 of them were arrested by the court on March 18, 8 of them were released on condition of judicial control.   Ten women including Sur Municipality Co-Mayor Filiz Buluttekin, Health and Social Service Workers Union (SES) Diyarbakır Branch Women Secretary Fatma Yıldızhan, United Transport Workers Union (BTS) Branch Women Secretary Bahar Uluğ, TJA activists Zekiye Güler, Birsen Güneş, Safiye Akdağ, Evin Yelboğa, Emine Akşahin, Emine Çetiner, Keziban Kuday and Songül Kapanci, were taken to the courthouse yesterday upon the completion of their deposition.   In the interrogations of the prosecutor's office, women were asked why they participated in the protests for the November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the protests against the withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, and the March 8 Women's Day rally.   Filiz Buluttekin, Bahar Uluğ, Fatma Yıldızhan and Songül Kapancı were arrested by the court. Others were released with judicial control measures.
