Body of political prisoner died in Turkish prison abducted by police 2021-12-20 11:34:12   İSTANBUL - The body of Vedat Erkmen who died suspiciously in prison was abducted by the police.    Vedat Erkmen who is being held in Tekirdağ No 2 Type F Closed Prison serving a life sentence, died suspiciously in his cell. The prison administration called the family last night and claimed that Erkmen has committed suicide.    The body of Erkmen who was brought to İstanbul Küçükçekmece Cemeteries Directorate early in the morning. His family who wanted to take the body to Digor Dağpınar Association was prevented by the police who claimed that the family will make a scene there.    The family responded: "They are not releasing his body to us because we are Kurdish", protesting the police. The family and non-governmental organisations are still waiting to claim the body.   POLICE WAS INSTRUCTED NOT TO RELEASE THE BODY   The police told the family who protested the situation, they were instructed not to allow the family to take the body to Esenyurt. The body of Erkmen loaded to the funeral vehicle is kept waiting at the garage.   THE BODY WAS ABDUCTED   While the family was waiting to claim the body, the body was abducted by the police. It was stated that the body will be taken to Mehmetçik Foundation (a military foundation). The family set off to follow the funeral vehicle.
