'Not releasing Tuğluk is a crime against humanity' 2021-12-14 13:33:39   AYDIN - Drawing attention to the health status of AYsel Tuğluk, women politicians said preventing her treatment by not releasing Tuğluk is a crime against humanity.   HDP's former Co-Chair Aysel Tuğluk, who is being held in Kocaeli Kandıra F Type Prison, is getting worse day by day after the racist attack on her mother's funeral. While the application for Tuğluk's release is rejected, the calls made by human rights organizations are also left unanswered. HDP and Greens and Left Party members protested that Tuğluk was not released.   TOTAL STRUGGLE   Fatoş Ay, a member of the Greens and Left Party Central Executive Committee, who told that what was done to Tuğluk was a violation of human rights, said that Tuğluk should be released as soon as possible due to her health problems. Stating that politicians cannot be imprisoned in prisons because of their thoughts, Ay said, "It is unacceptable that she has been in prison all these years despite her health problems." Stating that the circle of democracy in the country is getting narrower, Ay emphasized that Turkey urgently needs to comply with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Saying, "We all have the right to see the sky, the green, and experience the four seasons," Ay pointed out the importance of a total struggle for the release of ill prisoners.   HER SENTENCE SHOULD BE POSTPONED   HDP Party Council Member Ayfer Demirel said that what was done to Tuğluk was inhumane treatment and told that a woman with memory loss should not be kept in prison. Demirel said, “A woman is being punished because of her political identity. This situation is against the Universal Law of Human Rights. Tuğluk is unable to sustain her life alone. Unfortunately, the government ignores the reports given by the doctors. We are faced with a system that does not recognize any rights or laws, doing whatever they want. Tuğluk needs to be released from prison as soon as possible, her sentence should be postponed and her treatment should be started.”   'SHE IS BEING SENTENCED TO DEATH'   Stating that Tuğluk not being released despite the medical reports is a crime against humanity, Greens Left Party Marmaris member, Doctor Sevim Sütçüoğlu said: "This situation is unaccepable everywhere in the world. She is not just being punished for her thoughts, she is being sentenced to death. This is done on purpose."   'TUĞLUK IS THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE'   HDP Aydın Provincial Director Neslihan Avşin demanded that Tuğluk be released as soon as possible, saying that it was the will of the people. Avşin said: "Not releasing her is an arbitrary decision. Holding a person with such a disease is a crime against humanity. All ill prisoners must be released immediately."     MA / Özlem Yayan
