Turkey's use of chemical weapons on Europe agenda 2021-11-24 10:21:50 İSTANBUL - Stating that they have informed relevant organisations in Europe about Turkey's use of chemical weapons, Kurdish politician Demir Çelik said: "We continue our efforts on this. We have to mobilize the will that can stop Turkey." The news that Turkey has used chemical weapons in the operations it has carried out since April 23, against Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap regions in the Federated Kurdistan Region remains hot on the agenda. Some non-governmental organizations and institutions both in the region and Europe took action to investigate the use of chemical weapons. In this context, the findings and documents obtained from the crime scenes were sent to international non-governmental organizations, the USA and the member states of the European Union (EU). Again, the Kurds and their friends in Europe appealed to the EU, the United Nations (UN) and the Council of Europe.   'EU IS AN ACCOMPLICE OF THIS CRIME'   Demir Çelik, one of the Kurdish politicians in Europe who took action against the use of chemical weapons, reacted to the silence in the face of the tragedy and said, "Anyone who remains silent about this situation is an accomplice. EC members and EU members who claim to be the cradle of democracy are also partners in this crime." "The Union and Progressive tradition is still committing similar inhumane war crimes today," said Çelik, adding, "A member of the EU, a country that is trying to join the EU and is a NATO member, is doing this. This dirty and barbaric war is  a tragedy that reaches beyond punishing Kurds. It destroys the ecology threatening all living things. Even though we insistantly say this, EU is not taking any action."   LETTER TO POPE   Stating that they made statements before the International Court of Justice, NATO, UNESCO and the EC against the silence of Europe, Çelik stated that they wrote letters to some European parliamentarians, politicians, government officials and the Pope. Stating that they also organize panels and conferences on the subject, Çelik said, “We give briefings to the people we reach here. However, they do not fulfill the responsibility expected of them except a few friends. However, since they do not have the power and initiative of the governments before the states, they also have to fulfill their conscientious responsibilities like us."   CRITICISM AND CALL TO KURDS   Noting that the Kurds in Europe did not react adequately to the situation, Çelik said, "Our daughters, sons, brothers and comrades were murdered there. It is the history, culture, flora and fauna of Kurdistan that was massacred there. For this reason, when we consider the self-interested reality of statist-government systems, it should be us, the Kurds, who must object and stand up.”   Çelik said: “If instead of hundreds, thousands, tens, hundreds of thousands and millions had taken to the streets and fought together against this savagery and barbarism, these institutions might not have acted so deaf and blind. That's why we have to unite under our upper identity, which is Kurdistan, and stand up against it."   'WE WILL TAKE ACTION'   Çelik stated that they will prepare important files in the upcoming period and send them to the necessary institutions. In this respect, we have to carry out our diplomatic relations based on dialogue, our cultural activities, our social and political activities without interruption.    'CALL FOR UNITED STRUGGLE'   Celik made the following call against the use of chemicals: "It is clear that the Turkish state wants to reiterate the massacres committed in the past. In that respect, it is not the time to sit at home in comfort. We have to unite and fight against this together. It is time to destroy fascism and build the new Kurdistan and Turkey together."   MA / Ferhat Çelik
