Statement from Kobané Case lawyers left the court in protests 2021-11-10 14:59:29   ANKARA - HDP Law and Human Rights Commission and lawyers are making a statement protesting the court's attitude in the Kobanê Case.   Lawyers and HDP Law and Human Rights Commission protesting the court's attitude in the Kobanê Case are holding a press conference at their party's headquarters with the participation of HDP MPs.   HDP Istanbul Deputy Züleyha Gülüm emphasized that the facts in the case were tried to be covered up and kept from the public. Expressing that the Kobanê Case is a case of revenge, Gülüm said, “We see that the government is trying to take revenge on the HDP. They started an investigation in 2014 there were no developments in the investigation for 4 years. Not even a confidentiality order, which they use a lot. We see that with the developments in the political arena in Turkey, AKP took action to liquidate our party.     INSTRUCTIONS WERE GIVEN   Pointing out that there is an attempt to create false evidence in the case by appointing a special prosecutor, Gülüm said, “It stands before us as a case of covering up the truth and covering up the crimes of the government itself. Although we submitted research proposals many times, and each time we wanted to reveal what happened in the Kobanê protests, they were rejected by AKP and MHP votes. When we look at what has been experienced in the case, we see that the judiciary has been instructed.”   PRESSURE ON THE CASE   Reminding that HSK member Hamit Kocabey resigned after the instruction of MHP Chairperson Devlet Bahçeli, Gülüm said, “At this stage, it is possible to say that the case was interfered with. Upon Bahçeli's order to speed up the hearing, the president of the court was dismissed and the court was speeded up. In the previous weeks, some interim decisions were made upon our demands for not preventing the right of defense, ensuring the right to a fair trial and revealing the truth. This was only possible with the insistence of our lawyers. Since the government was uncomfortable with this, it intervened and the presiding judge was dismissed from his post and the case process was accelerated. The participation of 5 AKP MPs to this hearing is a clear indication of the pressure on this case and the court board as well. After these MPs arrived, the court took a tougher line and insisted on speeding up the case.”   'WE WILL NOT BE A PART OF THIS UNFAIR TRIAL'   Gülüm continued: “This is not a trial. Finding out the facts is not an issue here. The decision was already made. Our friends on trial here says they will not be a part of this unfair trial. We said it from the started. HDP is not on trial here. HDP is prosecuting. And it will happen. There will come a time that the true perpetrators of the events of that day will stand trial. Our friends who are on trial will no longer attend these hearings. Their attorneys will also not be attending these hearings. If the attitude of this courtboard continues, so will our attitude not to attend the hearings."
