KNK to visit refugees at Polish-Belarusian border 2021-11-10 09:52:27   NEWS CENTER - Stating that they will visit the refugees stranded on the Polish-Belarusian border, KNK said in a statement that the world, and especially Europe, is once again faced with a refugee crisis.   Refugees who want to cross into Europe continue to wait at the Polish-Belarusian border. Tens of thousands of refugees, mostly from Northern and Eastern Syria and the Federated Kurdistan Region, who were stranded on the border, are facing serious problems. At least 10 refugees died of cold and starvation, as the refugees who were stranded on the border of the two countries were not allowed to pass, and their basic life needs were not met.   The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) made a written statement on the refugee crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. Drawing attention to the difficult conditions of the refugees, the majority of whom are Kurds, the statement emphasized that thousands of people's lives, including children and women, are in danger.   CALL TO EU   Referring to the European Union (EU) officials accusing Erdoğan, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin of using refugees as a political tool against the EU, the statement said: “Regardless of their intentions towards EU countries, the treatment of refugees by the authorities of Belarus and Poland is a great tragedy for the lives of refugees and for humanity. This treatment is in no way acceptable. We call on all EU countries and people of conscience not to remain silent in the face of these inhumane treatment of refugees and to find a solution.   In recent years, we have seen how the Turkish state has used the refugee issue as a bargaining chip against EU countries. The aim of Erdogan and the Turkish state is to tear the people of Kurdistan off their land and change the demographics of Kurdistan. In this way, Erdogan aims to settle the groups under his control in the Kurdistan Region. This strategy is a great danger for Kurdistan.   WE WILL TRAVEL TO THE BORDER   We know very well the aims of Turkey and the Erdogan regime. That's why we call on the authorities in Southern Kurdistan to take this issue seriously and take the necessary measures as soon as possible with national responsibility. As the Kurdistan National Congress, we will try our best to solve the refugee problem before greater tragedies occur. On this occasion, a KNK delegation will travel to the border of Belarus and Poland and visit refugees in the upcoming days."
