We are blazing trails and cutting down trees."   The operation launched by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) in the Metina, Zap and Avasin regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region on April 23 has entered its 42nd day. Heavy clashes are taking place between the TAF and HPG in the Zendura Hill of Metina, Dola Maran, Mervanos and Şûkê in the Avaşin region, and Küçük Cilo in Zap. Having difficulty in the war, the TAF is bombing the area from air and land.  In addition to military areas, civilian settlements are also targeted in the bombardments. Cultivated lands belonging to the villagers are burned, animals are killed. It is stated that approximately 1,850 decares of land was burned in the fires that broke out due to the bombardments made on the settlements between the Kêste village of the Metina region and the Kanîmasi region.   NUMBER OF MILITARY BASES INCREASED TO 43   Sources stating that the villages were systematically targeted, state that there are 6 outposts and 36 bases belonging to the TAF in the Behdinan area, and the number of these bases increased to 43 with the operation. It was stated that a thousand acres of land within the borders of the town of Kanimasi was set on fire by paramilitary forces brought by the Turkish Armed Forces, and the vineyards, orchards and fruit trees belonging to the people were severely damaged here.   Reporting that 2 people grazing their animals in Derkarê town of Zaxo were bombed by warplanes and helicopters, the sources stated that on June 1, the Hirore village of Kanimasi was targeted by howitzers and a villager named Remezan Eli was injured.   KDP POLITBURO MEMBER IN OPERATION   Bêgova and Dêrekar towns in Duhok's Zaxo district and 47 villages in the Berwari region were evacuated due to previous aerial bombardments. It was noted that the trees belonging to the public in the said region were cut with the approval and participation of KDP Politburo member Ali Awni. The villagers, who gave information, learned that the trees were cut in partnership with companies close to Awni and some companies in Turkey, and the woods obtained were taken to Turkey and sold under the coordination of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT). In this context, it has been claimed that the cutting and selling of trees in Sinaht, Mêrga Şîş, Kelok, Masi Sinda villages and all surrounding forest areas in Sindi region is done by 3 subcontractors of infamous Cengiz Holding.   'WE PURCHASED THE LANDS'   A situation similar to Israel's purchasing lands in Palestine is experienced in Federated Kurdistan.
