Gergerlioğlu's son slams CHP 2021-04-13 11:33:00   ANKARA – Criticizing CHP for not taking a serious attitude against her father Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu being stripped of his status as an MP , his son Salih Gergerlioğlu said: "We need to quit simple political affairs and unite in demanding justice and peace."   Salih Gergerlioğlu, son of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Kocaeli Deputy Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, who was arrested and imprisoned in Sincan Prison after he was stripped of from his status as an MP, visited her father in prison on Friday, 9th of April.   Disclosing the details of his visit for Mesopotamia Agency (MA), Salih Gergerlioğlu said his father who is being held alone in a cell due to Covid- 19 pandemic is healthy and he is in good morale and he didn't have any problems with the prison administration.   'JUSTICE WATCH' WILL CONTINUE IN PRISON   Underlining that the Justice Watch his father initiated first at the parliament, then at the party's headquarters will continue in prison, Gergerlioğlu said: "My father told that he will continue the Justice Watch under any circumstances and never step back on his demand for justice."   Salih Gergerlioğlu said: "They will never be able to silence the demand of the people for justice. It will continue both inside and outside. We plan to continue posting his notes on social media. We will continue the Justice Watch with the support of the human's rights defenders and activists. We will make an effort to step up the struggle."   THOSE WHO RULE THE COUNTRY DOESN'T KNOW THE PEOPLE   Gergerlioğlu told that other MP's were stripped of from their statuses and other political parties were closed but the government could not achieve anything. Gergerlioğlu said: "Millions of people vote for the HDP. This means that those who rule this country doesn't know its people. They don't know the people living in Kurdistan. They don't know the party they vote for. HDP is at the parliament to solve the Kurdish problem. The government doesn't respect the will and the votes of 6 million citizens. How can you put a man elected by the people behind bars? This government doesn't respect the Kurdish and the Turkish people. This is a struggle that has been going on for the last 40 years. Their attacks means nothing."     Underlining that the opposition is inactive, Gergerlioğlu said: "When my father was stripped of from his status as an MP, the only party that stood by him was his own party, the HDP. The main opposition did not take a serious stand. My father marched with the CHP when they organized the 'Justice March'. My father stood by Enis Berberlioğlu in the face of the injustice that was done to him . Everyone must show a strong reaction to this unlawfulness. We need to quit simple political affairs and unite in demanding justice and peace."     MA / Hakan Yalçın
