Women arrested in Diyarbakır increased to 11 2021-04-12 11:55:09 DİYARBAKIR – Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activist Zelal Bilgin, and Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality (DBB) Council Members Bahar Karakaş Uluğ and Rabia Tekas were arrested in Diyarbakır.   Among the 26 women detained during home raids in Diyarbakır on April 5, Free Women's Movement (TJA) activist Zelal Bilgin, and Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Council Members Bahar Karakaş Uluğ and Rabia Tekas were referred to the court yesterday after they are processed at the Provincial Police Department. The 3 women, whose statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, were referred to the Criminal Court of First Instance on Duty with the request for arrest. Bilgin, Uluğ and Tekas were arrested and sent to Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison on the allegation of "being a member of the terrorist organization". With these arrests, the number of women arrested within the scope of the investigation increased to 11.   Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, arrest warrants were issued for 33 people, including representatives of women's organizations and political parties, and 26 women were detained in house raids on April 5. Çınar Municipality Co-mayor Necla Tamriş, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Diyarbakır Provincial Co-chair Seval Gülmez, Diyarbakır Women's Academy Member Figen Aras, Socialist Women's Councils (SKM) Central Executive Board Member Satiye Ok, Leyla Akgül, Ayşen Kanuş, Nurşen Akbal and Şehriban Zuğurli were arrested on the allegation of "being a member of the terrorist organization", and house arrest was issued for the Peace Mother Nezahat Teke. 14 women, including Jinnews reporter Beritan Canözer, were released on the condition of judicial control.
