Constitutional Court returns the indictment of HDP closure case 2021-03-31 15:50:52 ANKARA - Examining the indictment issued against the HDP by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Cassation, the Constitutional Court has found procedural deficiencies. The Office will send the indictment back after rectifying them.   The Constitutional Court has ruled that the indictment of the closure case filed against the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) shall be returned to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Cassation.   In today's session (March 31), the General Assembly of the Constitutional Court conducted the first examination on the indictment lodged by Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation Bekir Şahin.   Finding procedural deficiencies in the indictment, the General Assembly has ruled that the application shall be returned to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Cassation to rectify the deficiencies.   After the related procedural deficiencies are rectified and the indictment is sent back to the Constitutional Court by the Court of Cassation's Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the first examination will be held again.   The General Assembly will convene at a date to be specified later and decide whether the indictment against the party will be accepted or not.   The Constitutional Court rapporteur assigned with examining the HDP indictment requested yesterday (March 30) that the indictment be returned to the Court of Cassation due to procedural deficiencies.
