Law suit was filed for the annulment of withdrawal from İstanbul Convention 2021-03-22 11:53:54   NEWS CENTER -  Children and Women First Association filed an annulment case at the Council of State against the Presidential Decree that withdrew from the Istanbul Convention.   First, the Children and Women Association filed an annulment case at the Council of State against the President's decision, which withdrew from the Istanbul Convention.   The association announced from Twitter and said: "“As the Association of Children and Women First we have filed a law suit against the Presidency decision at 02.00 PM just like the Presidency who announced they have withdrew from the convention at 02.00 PM on 20.03.2021. We demand the annulment of the withdrawal."   The statement of the association is as follows:    It was announced that Turkey withdrew from the hard earned İstanbul Convention in the middle of the night with a presedential decision. This decision has no legal effect. The Republic of Turkey can not withdraw from an international convention that has been put into effect with law, with a presential decision.   As the Association of Children and Women First we have filed a law suit against the Presidency decision at 02.00 PM just like the Presidency who announced they have withdrew from the convention at 02.00 PM on 20.03.2021. We demand the annulment of the withdrawal."   We will continue to defend the women's rights to life. We are and will be here until not one single woman in Turkey is subjected to violence.
