Thousands of prisoners have participated in the action.   One of the prisoners on hunger strike is Sıddık Kıvanç who is in prison for 26 years   5TH TIME ON HUNGER STRIKE   This is the fifth time Kıvanç has been on hunger strike. He participated in the hunger strikes in 1996, 2000, 2012, 2018.   His sister Sultan Azboy told that her brother faced violations of rights through out his time in prison and he resisted in the face of these violations.   Underlining that the violations of rights in prisons increased with the pandemic, Azboy said: "We haven't been able to visit him for a year because of the pandemic. It is not allowed. They are not allowed to have social time or exercise in prison because of the pandemic too. Their books and newspapers are not given. They do not have access to edible food and clean water. And there is the isolation in İmralı which all together led to the hunger strike.   Azboy told that her brother said, "The isolation will be removed if you raise your voice."   Stating that she is concerned that the reaction might grow as the demands are not met and worse things can happen, Azboy called on to the people to stand against isolation and not remain silent.
